Answer:
Safest and by far the best prescription available for cold sores: Abreva from your local Wal-Mart (most economical price found there ... nearly $13 a tube) and it is over-the-counter.

Best prevention: in rider to a daily Lysine supplement of which you can catch from Wal-Mart in the vitamin subsection is a tube of sunblock chapstick and apply it anytime you go out contained by the sun ... sunshine is the number one catalyst to activate cold sores. The best prescription is prevention ... I used to get cold sores once or twice a month ... immediately I use Lysine supplements and lip block and haven't had one surrounded by nearly two years now, and I enjoy used prescriptions and about everything certain for cold sores... nothing help much ... that is until I widely read about using sunblocking chapstick ... it is the best prevention tool available and it wants to be SPF 30 or greater.
If it is not a cold sore, perhaps only just a little crack near that hurts? Vaseline applied heavily and repeatedly will keep the nouns soft and pliable until it heals, and preserve it protected as well. For a Cold sore start using corn within your diet, or get Lysine tab, from the health food store.
I would use straight neosporin. Especially in the past bed. Heals cuts quicker. I can't imagine why you couldnt use it on your mouth if you can put it surrounded by open wounds.
Apply sunscreen (SPF 15 or higher) to the maw to prevent recurrences.

Don't touch the blisters. This can spread the virus, as can sharing personal items such as towels, razors, drinking goggles, or toothbrushes

Try meditation, yoga, or other forms of relaxation to reduce stress, which is thought to precipitate cold sores.

Stay away from nuts, chocolate, whole-grain cereal, and gelatin. They contain a large amount of the amino acerbic arginine, which some doctors think triggers cold sores. Lysine may counteract its effect.

Supplements can be soundly used with prescription antiviral creams, such as acyclovir or penciclovir, which also promote soothing of cold sores.

Holding an ice cube to the artificial area for a few minutes several times a time can help dwindle pain and dry out the cold sore.
Everyone have some good suggestions. L-lysine pills would be a angelic investment for you if you get these type sores normally, or the ones inside the mouth, called cankers. However, I would use the Carmex for a couple of days and see if that clears it up.

If you own Camphophenique or camphor oil on foot, use it first to stop the pain. Then apply the Carmex.

Drink lots of sea, eat lots of fiber foods (oatmeal, coarse or steamed veggies), leave stale sugar and that will speed the detoxification of your body.

Elderberries and Red Marine Algae also kill the virus that cause cold sores.
I used to get little sores at the corners of my mouth. If its enflamed or blistered, it help to put vinegar on it. It helps it dry out and after scabs and heals and go away.
