What's the best cure for cold sores? Does Abreva really work?
Answer:
Save your money and buy rubbing alcohol. It dries it up fast. Put it on nearby like 4-5 times a light of day. I used to be the cold sore queen... It worked great every time. It takes a couple days to see a difference. :)
Cold sores are cause by virus' and there is no cure for a viral outbreak once it occur...only palliative treatment to protect it till the body heal it like Vaseline.
Bacterial infections can be cured once contracted, but viral infections can individual be vaccinated for prior to infection (if a vaccine have been invented).
Abreva is expensive and take a long time to work. Campho Phenique works best for me. THere is also a prescription you can get from your doctor to be precise wonderful. First sign of a cold sore coming on and you take the meds the sore is gone.
Ice is a amazingly good home remedy for cold sores. Rub rime on the infected skin for few minutes, repeat this every hour
Apply a tea bag for few minutes on the blisters, repeat this every hour. One can also consider pressing a heat tea bag on the blisters for approximately 30 minutes
Scientists did closely of embarrassing things to rats to build sure that Abreva does, in reality, have a physiological effect.
I'm sure Abreva works...but slowly. Prevention is the best drug. I have hear that the herb oregano (not the spice stuff which is not real oregano, but fairly Mexican basil) but true oregano kills alot of that stuff within you colon and body so that it doesn't come up anymore. Cold sores are caused by a form of herpes, resembling chicken pox. Best fought from within.
A few things: 1) Congratulations. Whoever have a cold sore, now have herpes. Yes, usually it's HSVI, but not always, and if the individual w/ the cold sore goes down on their lover, they CAN transmit oral herpes to their lover's genitals. 2) Zinc +/- 50mg/day can sustain w/ this, as can Lysine (500mg/2-3x/day). 3) There is a zinc lozenge and a cold sore cream made by Quantum that I have found to be wonderful for populace. 4) As herpes is more a hassle than anything else, and b/c I have have people contained by my clientele only hold outbreaks like every 10-20 years or so, and because drugs resembling Abreve cannot cure HSVI or HSVII, I am inclined to urge people to avoid pharmaceuticals for herpes similar to the plague. No one is really sure what the longterm effects are, HSV can still be spread by ASV--Asymptomatic Viral Shedding--whether there are sores or lesion present or not, so you're never really safe, you a short time ago think you are. I would concentrate abundantly more on stress management and strengthening my immune system. Maybe Abreva does "work", but the question you should be asking are, "HOW? and at what cost to my body and my immune system?" What are the side effects?
In many cases cold sores are cause by bacteria, virus or fungi. To protect yourself against these invaders of your body you can take several preventive measures. But when the situation is acute one of the best remedies agreed to the human race since copious hundreds, even thousands of years is pure silver. It is nontoxic to men, has no harmfull side effects and most microbes are killed in minutes. In the 70's Dr. Harry Margraf and Dr. Carl Moyer, both from the University of Washington did extensive research on this and found that pure silver is able to get rid of more than 650 different bacteria, virus and fungi! They got kill because the silver blocs the uptake of oxygen, this goes so immediately that they cannot develop resistance against silver.
There are more beneficial side effects when using silver because it helps to regenerate the diluted tissues all over the body: internal and external. Dr. Robert O Becker found that it can induce dedifferentiation and enhance local tissue rebirth. This is mainly done through the silverions: one atom silver missing one electron. This is nanotechnology of mother temperament inside the body: subtle but very powerfull!
Take your benefit of it!
Lysine is the answer.
While nearby is no actual cure for Herpes simplex virus, there are a couple of short possession remedies that will reduce the appearance or be paid them disappear. Abreva works quite very well. Someone above said that it is expensive and takes forever, but if you use it at the first sign of rosiness or pain at an outbreak, it usually prevents the cold sore from fully forming. Campho, in opposition, just dries it out. This is relatively helpful, but it simply treats the symptom rather than the root bring.
You can also talk to your strength care provider roughly speaking acyclovir or other anti-virals, taken orally for roughly speaking 10 days, that will cause the sore to disappear.
A thaw compress may help unambiguous it up and release some of the puss, but I'm not as sure about that.
