Does Meditation Replaces Sleep ??

Can anybody tell me if meditation, although aim concsious mental state for breathing exercises, can replace sleep for restoring the body's energy and get done the necessary person's rest?

Answer:
Yes - it's call yoga nidra. I've read that there be a yogi who memorized a speach in a completely different expressions while in yoga nidra by have his assistant read it to him, while in the state of meditation. He doesn't not requirement to sleep like we do.
You can buy CDs on yoga nidra on amazon. I've read rave reviews on them.
No. You're brain/body isn't recharge as much as it's refreshing. Your cells don't regenerate as quickly, not even close. Not good for you. Get at least possible 8 hours, more if you can.
It can't replace sleep necissarially. Meditation is used to calm the body, mind and spirit. Doing so also slows down your breathing and your awareness to things. So, you're not using up as much strength, which in turn make you require less sleep.
It can to a point as can self hypnosis..its the rem sleep you enjoy to make sure you attain and you can achieve it promptly with self hypnosis. Wendi Freisen be talking more or less it the other day on her radio show.
no but it can back you sleep. meditation is more rejuvenation.

nothing replaces sleep, oh no, you must sleep explicitly one of the key ingrediants contained by life.

along beside meditation. make sure you're doing your meditation right.

:D
average joe? no

monks who meditate almost every hour of every morning of their life? I don`t know, eventually
it may calm you down, but nought replaces physcial sleep
No, your body still needs your 7 or 8 hours of sleep. Meditation (hopefully on God, thereby bringing a closer relationship beside Him, which leads to inner peace, which lead to less stressing, which lead to relaxation, and good sleep.) anyway--- meditation is expected to relax your body, to calm your spirit, to bring your "heart" closer to God's presence. The insightful breathing exercises that I think you are conversation about are massively relaxing, and can be done at any time, but might also be helpful beforehand meditation, (to me--praying, focusing or just plain chitchat to God. Jehovah, that is.) I can certainly feel the stiffness leaving my collar and shoulders when I have done merely a few. They say it also help with bulk loss.
You see, you are a many layered soul, you aren't just a physical body - which is the factor of you that needs its battery recharged, with proper nutrition, and sleep. You are also a spiritual human being. You recharge you soul by talking to God, and your spirit by relaxing, and one kind to yourself, and adjectives levels.
(Some will read out that the soul is the spirit, but I think that the soul is the bit of you that connects with God, your spirit is who you are as a individual. not really separate, but somehow there is a difference. For example someone can insult you and it will hurt your spirit, but it cannot touch your relationship near God.)
Nothing replaces sleep . The body needs sleep or it will shut down .
