Is methadone risk-free during pregnancy?
Answer:
Of course, being on methadone when pregnant is not an wonderful situation, BUT-Taking methadone during pregnancy is safer than trying to detox off opiates (including methadone) while pregnant. It is also greatly safer than self-medicating with pills (opiates) or herion. If you are addicted to opiated already & become pregnant, methadone is the safest. As long as you are getting your methadone from a legit source (a doctor or clinic), they should own plenty of information on methadone during pregnancy. Also, there is a group call M.O.M.-stands for "mothers on methadone". There is a lot of information available if you look into for it.
