How come drugs cost so much more on the street?
My friend just have his wisdom teeth out and sold some of his oxycodone for $40 a tablet. Is this a sensible price for drugs on the street now? and why?

I know what your thinking... Say the physical question why dont you..your thinking what a fitting way to breed money and can I get 40 bucks for every little pill...after you proabably thinking how easy is it to receive them.
So many lives are artificial it is not funny. Not to mention your encouraging the people who are addicted to this mediction surrounded by such a way they much turn to illegal mechanism to get what they necessitate.
40 bucks is probably cheap, oxycontin which is almost the same, to a druggie, near is no diff, sells for up to $80 for an 80mg tablet. thats a dollar a mg, though the average is 5o bucks.
race who need these are so desperate their unbroken lives turn up side down, DONT encourage them. You will finish up with deeply of hassles, you will enjoy addicts calling you at adjectives hours of the night, populace you never met will start rocking up coz they heard you have them from a "mate", they will start coming without money and asking for "credit", they wont foot you pay, you will walk to jail for with joy selling a prescription medication and your social group status will fall as society ask why your hanging beside these people and you start defending them. You come up with you can keep it confidential, it wont happen, trust me.
You will sort money but in turn contribute to ruining the live of the nation you sell to, if they die or OD its on ur come first, if they dob to cops, which many druggies do when they are question, they r not going to protect you and go to secure unit when they can save their own asses and mention your pet name. If you think they wil never be question by the cops just linger, in time it is almost inevitable, they will vote and do ANYTHING to get themselves out of trouble.
At the moment your mate can say-so, Oh I did sell them once or twice but it be a bad model. In two years time, he will wish he have of said that if he doesnt say it in a minute.
there is also big fines for doctor shopping, the more money you hold the more you will want, u can only return with so mnay pills per month, but when people come beseeching you you will go again, untimely and make an excuse... the dog ate the pills doesnt work as an excuse for this one. You will run out of excuses and return with caught, the cops will be involved and your "mate" arrested.
Personally I think it may hold been you that did it, not your friend, but within any case, trust me, do not even turn there. Contact poilice if surrounded by doubt

Not sure if this is quite the answer you are looking for, but largely all drugs (and especially illicit drugs) are completely cheap to produce once you have recoup the development and trialling costs - if the drug is an old drug (either unofficial or out of patent) then at hand are no reseach and development costs to pay cheque at all. You only just need the ingredients and the 'recipie' to produce the drug.
Since selling drugs on the street is prohibited what you are paying for is the risk. The person selling the drugs will individual sell them at a price explicitly greater than the cost (or the fear/risk) of getting caught.
Regarding commerical drugs (rather than just illict drugs) the society purchasing the drugs often money a premium. Again this is because the market know if they could get them cheaper legitimately, they would. Thus a baseline price is loosely set. The price will vary depending on how much emergency or supply there is.
This is cut of the reason the so call 'war on drugs' cannot be won. The tighter the supply, the complex the price will go and since the downside risk is fixed (ie Jail is still indistinguishable jail), and upside profit is infinate (depending on demand) people will swiftly move to fill the souk.
