All honey has medicinal virtues as a topical dressing. It has be promoted for treatment of antibiotic resistant infections and skin ulcers for relatives with poor circulation even surrounded by hospitals. Put honey on it, replace regularly when the honey gets emaciated.
Depending how big it is I like to resign from em open to sunlight which seem to dry em out faster. Plasters always come across to keep them damp longer than they need I reckon...my outdated man used to use an old bush man trick, he'd cover his cuts with cobwebs and swore by it. I hold heard honey have some antiseptic properties.

What type of wound is it? A bite, a cut, ...,? How big is it and how open? How old it is? Is in that any drainage and if so, of what color?

There is a honey that assists healing.It is call Manuka honey. The Manuka is a tree that grows here in New Zealand. The Maori use the honey for wounds,and bruises etc. I don't know if near is something similar where you live? But an interested wound needs to dry out. So I wouldn't put anything on it. Just the dressing will be fine. What you can do is use an Antiseptic cream as the scab forms, to hold infection out.Good Luck!
If you put honey in a wound, you will soon gain maggots in it too. That sounds disgusting, but truly maggots are occasionally used to debride infected wounds that have profoundly of necrotic tissue in them.
I would lately clean the wound next to antibacterial soap and warm river, apply triple antibiotic ointment and consequently cover with a sterile dressing. Get some of that stretchy gauze approaching Kerlix and wrap it around your leg to hold the dressing in place. No honey.
