i don't smoke pot, cigarette or drink. I have instinctively wondered the same item. I think alcohol have way worse effects on general public than marijuana. I'm sure it has to do next to lobbyists and those alcohol and tabacoo people enjoy their fangs sunk low into the government.
it's not legally recognized bc the government would own a hard time regulating and taxing it. I guess they could purely sell joint or maybe blunts, and probably label damn good money from it, so I'm not sure.

Drugs are illegal because the best pot, coke, and heroin, come from South America and the Middle East.
I choice they'd make pot lawful, no sense in druggies getting sent to secure unit for getting high while rapists roam free. Plus, California's biggest crop is marijuana. Think of adjectives the money they could make if they tax it.
Its not about whether or not the governing body can tax it. The alcohol and tobacco companies are established and pour too much money into Washington to obtain banned. Who is gonna put that genus of money into Washington to legalize pot? The other big lobbyist contained by Washington is the pharmecutical companies. If pot were legalized, sales would walk down for antidepressants and many other drugs. So it is contained by the interest of the pharmecutical companies to keep pot illicit. Alcohol and cigarettes also contribute to illness, accordingly it is also in the interest of the pharmecutical companies to preserve alcohol and cigarettes illegal. If we stay sick due to drinking and smoking, the drug companies profit as ably as the alcohol and tobacco companies.

I could site examples of where on earth Marijuana was at one time sold over the counter of Chemists contained by cigarette from for the treatment of Asthma. Problem was that these Asthmatics smoked them when they be driving and had accident. Smoked at work and had accident with machinery. The DHA eventually withdraw them and banned their mart as they did more harm than righteous.
This experiment you speak of is still largely unproven. If it is eventually trialled it will not be in the form of cigarettes, it will more possible be in the form of a chemical extract that will be market under perscription as a tablet or pill and will be expensive.
So don't hold your breath thinking that this research will eventually have MaryJane legalised or freely available to those wanting to use it. It will initially be on the restricted detail and perscription only!
I don't know why marijuana is not allowed but when was the ultimate time you heard of someone have ten joints and wanting to punch-up the world, or getting arrested for being STONED AND DISORDERLY? People falling around within the casualty department on a Saturday night have smoked too much dope and being aggressive? I know cigarettes are fruitless but I think alcohol is the REAL baddie.. !?

I'm not sure. I hear too frequent cases of people getting drunk and driving after killing an innocent clan on the road, but i've never hear the same in the order of pot, hmmm, doesn't make sense does it?
