The alcohol itself is the most disadvantageous. It small, and penetrates your cells and if you drink to much it will murder them.....hence the bad effects.

A number of studies published within the 1970s and 1980s suggested that small to moderate amounts of alcohol have a protective effect on ischaemic heart disease (IHD) that outweighs adverse condition effects. However, Rod Jackson (University of Auckland, New Zealand) and colleagues state that the studies were non-randomised and any positive association could effortlessly be due to confounding factors that be not considered. For example, a study this year on 200,000 adults in the USA found that 27 of 30 cardiovascular risk factor were significantly more prevalent contained by non-drinkers than in street light to moderate drinkers.
Dr Jackson states: "Any coronary protection from light to moderate drinking will be hugely small and unlikely to outweigh the harms…Do not assume there is a porthole in which the form benefits of alcohol are greater than the harms – there is probably no free lunch."

Alcohol is a simple sugar, nought else in it, surrounded by and of itself it is a poison. Humans drink it because if you take of late a little bit of a poison you draw from high - it is individual when you get deeply that you die.
