What's reiki?

This might be a stupid question, but I've never hear of it and somebody said it could somehow help near my paruresis by detaching me from my surroundings or something. Could someone just put in the picture me, in plain English, what it is and what exactly it does?

Reiki is a Japanese word.
ki=universal natural life force energy
rei=it is that piece of "ki" which resides in a formed one,be it a living or noniving
It is a cross used for a therapy which have it's recent origin surrounded by Japan, by efforts of Dr.Mikao Usui,from where on earth it spreaded all over the world!
It is base on a cocnept that every being is a form of vim which is derived from a universal source to which this mortal is connected throghout it's life.There exists an unseen nouns in the form of "chakras"(a Sanskrit word for"wheel" used by Yoga science )on a range of parts of body which supply this positive energy to the underlying organs as force that sustains vivacity & maintains the regular functioning of that organ.The chakras also serve to expell negative force out from the body.
In a person suffering from an virus,the normal functioning of these "chakra"s is powerless there by reducing the supply of this go force to the related organ that underlies the influence of that chakra.
This inequality can be corrected by a flow of this energy through the hand of a prson who gives reiki & act as a connection between the addressee & the universal source of life span force.The reiki can be given by a direct touch method or by a distant method with practically no physical nouns between the donor & recipient.
There are plentiful communities on Yahoo groups which offer distant reiki treatmet free of cost.One of the trellis sites is www.reiki.org that gives information as powerfully as treatment.

its a way of uplifting with spiritual energys!!! its rock-hard to explain, some people dont belive surrounded by it. but ive been interested contained by it for years, and i got a pat from a reiki master, and wow it was particularly good. much better later a regular massage theripist. they necessarily use their positive energy from them, and verbs it to you through massage mostly.

Reiki is nice I loved it, Defiantly thought it be weird at first, i Don't know how to explain what it in reality is, but I can tell you my experience, I be really sick for a long time, with stomach problems and I get EVERY test done and they could not find anything, So I go to this lady who did reiki, its supposed to backing with "discouraging energy" ...I just layed at hand and its almost like yoga I feel soo good when I disappeared, and also she told me I have something call celiac disease...food allergy to wheat and gluten, and wouldn't you know I went to a diff doctor and they found out I did enjoy that!..So I was sick for 3 years and doctors couldn't integer it out, and I went to her and she help me so ..its worth it!! i loved it.

Reiki is the channeling of energy from quality into your body to fix or tune the body so it functions correctly. It's like a chiropractor where on earth the chiropractor adjusts your bones and muscle but a Reiki practitioner adjust the energy flow of the body to tolerate the blocked energy flow again.

Reiki is not manipulate. A Reiki practitioner cannot give you a rub unless licensed to do so in that precise state.

A Reiki partitoner is not licensed (like a massage psychotherapist, etc.) so you really cannot know if they are 'good' or not. Also, a pure Reiki practitioner does not need to touch the body at adjectives.

There are several schools of Reiki and depending on which university you ask, they will give you adjectives answers.

Reiki is an energy dais healing system that go back thousands of years. It can be applied within person or over a distance There are practioners of reiki 1( Hands on), reiki 2(distance healing).
