Chamomile tea is the best natural remedy to give support to you sleep. Lavender oil is also extraordinarily relaxing - either put a few drops contained by a warm tub, or on your pillow. You can also buy wheat bags fragrant with lavender grease that you heat within the microwave. They are good to snuggle up to.
try aromatheraphy oil on your pillow - lavender is good
hot chocolate help me to fall asleep.
Anything incorporating lavender (the herb, not the color), chamomile tea, reheat milk, melatonin (a "pill" you can find in Natural Food Stores -- its a readily occurring hormone), a warm shower or tub before bed (temperature conveyance induces sleep), socks (warm feet cause for a sleepy person), and of course (and I'm anyone totally serious, here), some form of sex. Another idea would to gross a meal involving turkey -- especially the threatening meat. Turkey has a intrinsically occurring hormone called "tryptophan" that help to induce sleep. That's also why people konk out on the couch after Thanksgiving dinner. ;-)
Exercise is the best means of access, try to avoid coffee & tea after 3pm.
The tradition of counting sheep of course!
Alcohol have a rebound effect, wake you up again. Worse, it messes with REM sleep and messes you up that means of access. I should know. Plus, what you drink, you have to offer back surrounded by the middle of the night.

Chamomile tea does relief, but again, it's liquid.

The entry that works for me is available in vitamin stores and online vitamin places similar to Puritan.com. It's Valerian, a natural substitute for Valium. Be forewarned, they stink. But they work. I whip one during the day when my blood pressure is too glorious, and I take two for bedtime.

Supplement that by not consumption or getting stimulated by TV, Internet, arguments or whatever an hour beforehand sleep. Use that hour for wind-down time.
try melatonin, natural supplement, works wonders.
There are lots of things that can comfort. If you have trouble next to an overactive brain - can't stop thinking about something - you can try a white commotion machine or catch a clock radio that plays pleasant sounds or music.

Get a lotion or massage grease you really like the smell of and squeeze your feet until they relax. It can relax your total body. Certain herbs close to rosemary have a scent that is to say supposed to be good to put beneath your pillow and help you sleep resourcefully.

Some people find a chalice of warm milk or herbal (non-caffeinated tea) help. Also a warm relaxing hip bath (not shower).

Also, there are things you should avoid. Like stay past its sell-by date the chat rooms, computer and video games and computer at least an hour formerly bed. Try not to do physically active things for the second hour you are up.

If you are married, or have a regular partner, sex can serve relax you. ( Sex isn't relaxing when its with a trial or unfamiliar partner.)

Good luck and sweet dreams.
If you spray a spritz of lavender onto your pillow i.e. an herb that tends to poised and relax the senses.

It also helps to de-clutter your mind since you're ready to crash asleep. Get off the computer and turn sour your TV 30 minutes before going to bed. The muted of the screen awakens and stimulates the brain. Try reading a book during that time (preferably a BORING one, haha, but it doesn't thing.)

Also, you can re-decorate your room in soothing colors to relax you. (Try lavender purples and an off-white shades.)
Close your eyes and start mentally chanting any PRAYER
you are acquainted with. I usually mentally think a mantra
prearranged as "GAYATRI" or mentally think GOD`S given name.
It definetely helps.
Try sincerely and agree to us know the results.
The important point is THINK THE PRAYER.
try sleepytime tea
Listen to meditation music, do some yoga and meditation just beforehand you go to sleep, it help.
Celestial Seasonings makes a great herbal tea call (Sleepytime Extra w/Valerian, Chamomile Mint Flavor) all pure and really helps - I'm big on herbals, anything next to Chamomile will work - read up on it. You can get this at your local supermarket.

You can also buy Valerian Root extract at any robustness food store, put a few drops in your tea or sea to add an spare boost.

I know you said you do not want a pill, but they also have Melatonin capsule (maybe powder - I'm not sure) sold in most robustness food stores, it is all innate.
I wrote this to another reader who asked a similar question. Read on...

Finding what the true root of your problem is is the most impressive first step.
*Do you drink alcohol, caffeine, black tea, green tea or the like formerly bed?

*Or even a few hours before bed?

*If you're feminine, are you approaching menopause? Hormone swings can cause things to be in motion haywire, so keep a memoir of your cycles and symptoms to review with your medical provider, hopefully an herbalist or homeopath.

*Do you work out too close to bedtime? Exercising within the morning or midday is ideal to make a contribution your body the chance to obtain off the inborn endorphine high in the past nighty night.

*Are you a dark shift employee or do you consistantly shift to bed at say 10pm respectively night. Work hours can play havoc next to your natural sleep pattern, so if at all possible fine-tuning to a day shift if you cogitate this may be the case.

*Using sleep aids for an extended time of time can cause an alterred fluent sleep pattern, sympathetic of like what happen when you use laxatives too much. Beware of this, and no, Ambien is not a safe drug to cart. Studies have shown individuals to sleepwalk at alarming rates when taking this drug. To the point where they own woken up in their coup¨¦ on the freeway!

My husband is on call 24/7 working for the railroad and we know how knotty of a life this is (night shift work). We also know it'll (sleep problems) seize worse as he gets elder, so we hope to retire 10 years early...
My mother have been a cardiac and intensive guardianship night nurse for 38 years. She have taken Ambien but managed to wean herself past its sell-by date in time to not enjoy any lasting effects from this death-defying drug.

Do your homework and keep penetrating.

*Tryptophan is a good alternative, any in supplement form or better but have a turkey rollup next to a glass of hot milk beside pure vanilla and nutmeg an hour before bed.

*Unwind, don't agree to your mind race. Keep a wad of paper and a pen subsequent to the bed to jot things down when you focus of something that could keep you awake. The morning will bring you a clear all right rested mind to deal near things.

* Sounds funny, but orgasm can be very relaxing afterwards.

*Try listen to your body. Don't fight it. If it say "It's 2 am. and I want to get up." Do it. Maybe you'll find after an hour or two you'll drip back alseep till 7 or so.

I hope I've help a little, flawless luck to you and God bless!
I read somewhere Dr Vogels' (from health shops) Valerian Hops Complex drops is righteous for sleeping..

more important, avoid tea/coffee or caffeine past bed or even after 6 pm, cut out caffeine altogether(inc. chocolate or strong choclate), switch to decaf tea/coffee or herbal tea,

exercise, best in initiate air (sometimes when I can't sleep, I run around & do alot of physical exercise that I get hold of so so tired I need to sleep), any going for a jog within the evening or skipping etc...

also drink alot of water, or as much as u can..

also yoga is correct for relaxation,( I got a DVD from amazon) & do it everyday or as repeatedly as I can...it'll subtly help you relax more...

the best subsequent thing is if someone can impart you a massage etc..
I used to play beside my ex's hair & he used to slump sleep really fast! ;)

otherwise you could purely get one of those hindmost scratchers, they're quite suitable to help one relax(sorry if it sounds weird)!
Meditation followed by a cup of chamomille tea and pure essential lavendar grease either mixed beside water and spritzed on your pillow or rather pure oil rubbed on your temple.
