How do you know that when u buy a vitamin or supplement that here r really vitamins inside them?
because its not like everyone can cut embark on the pill and determine whats inside..couldnt the vitamin companies easily rip us rotten. especially the cheaper ones?

Your concern is valid. Prescription medications must come across stringent manufacturing technique. They must demonstrate purity and potency. They are closely regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (which I admit is a flawed and troubled union - but it is all we enjoy and it is better than no regulation). There is no oversight of non-prescription drugs, vitamins, herbal preparations and so on. I advise my patients as some own advised you to buy from a reputable company. Unfortunately, near is no really good bearing to determine if a particular businessman is 'reputable'. When it comes to prescription drugs I strongly favor the least expensive due to the Food and Drug Administration oversight. When it comes to nonprescription drugs, vitamins, herbal preparations and so I recommend brand name. Then you ask what is a brand name and again near are problems in defining this. Centrum and One-A-Day are examples of 'brand name' vitamins. GNC products for vitamins and herbal preparations I would consider a 'brand'. Another put somebody through the mill is do we really need vitamins. Given the luxury of the United States and the tremendous quantities of food available to us the answer should be no. A judicious diet contains adjectives of the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that we need. Unfortunately, within the US most people consume a relatively 'poor' diet and I do recommend vitamins and minerals. What dose of vitamins and minerals you wonder. One-A-Day imply that someone has determined that one day after day provides for all of your wishes. The Recommended Daily Allowances (RDA values) are badly surrounded by need of revision. They be established when our diet was home prepared (not processed) food, fruits, and vegetables. For someone drinking a tradional or typical diet by today's standards I recommend 2 multi-vitamins daily. Given a person's form risks and over-all health status I sometimes recommend individual items contained by addition to the above. Buy from reputable company. They have their reputation at stake so its notably doubtful that they'd risk their popularity. As far as "should you" take them..Umm it'd be better to get hold of your minerals and vitamins out of whole food. But they're not going to hurt you and it will produce up for any vitamins not recieved from foods so go for it.
I agree near the first answer. I have be wondering the same point as well.
I guess the individual way to be sure would be to transport a sample to a lab (if you know a chemist or pharmacist) and hold it tested.
Otherwise, the second person is right. Buy from reputable companies, and I don`t know look up reviews/information on something like Consumer Reports and see what non-biased experts own to say.
Simply look at the side of the bottle and see what company have tested the vitamins and research them buy from reputable companies. Never buy the cheapest stuff. We don't get nearly plenty vitamins in our diets, especially processed foods
Look for a company that have an established history with the GMP system (it stands for Good Manufacturing Practices... it's unsophisticatedly the organization that adjectives supplement companies have to answer to for quality) and have a high rating.
Swanson Health Products is one of the few companies i.e. able to get done and maintain an A rating beside the GMP, which is the highest rating that they give, so the quality will be the best possible.
Go to a really good supplement store and ask for vitamins w/ adjectives foods in them. "Perfect food" is a apposite one.
Make sure you are purchasing your supplements from a company with a serious standard control and if you are purchasing natural, herbal supplements you can read up on some of the multiple herbs to find out which herb naturally supply the body near various vitamins and nutrients.
