The herb be banned from self sold over-the —counter and the decision by the consequently Minister for Health, Mr Brian Cowen, angered users of the herb and health shop owners alike.
Mr Cowen made his outcome based on suggestion from the Irish Medicines Board, which expressed concern over a number of issues including possible side-effects, such as fatigue and photosensitivity, and the possibility of the herb interacting beside prescribed medicines.
However the regulations interdiction the open mart of the herb did not cover importation. Therefore despite the fact that society are unable to buy St John's Wort within the Republic of Ireland, they can import it from other places, including Northern Ireland, as long as it is for personal use.

Its supposed to be honest for depression there be a product called "No Zac"that be very popular surrounded by Germany. the problem I believe was that it raise your blood pressure

Hi Sue, Ireland only prevented St. John's Wort as an over-the-counter drug. It is still available just with the sole purpose with a prescription.
