I don't know if I can do the elderly fashon thing.

Answer:
Glycerin suppository will relief. Not a big deal and it will be all right worth it. There is also something old arts school you can get to drink at the pharmacy. It is a clear solution and comes in what looks close to a pop bottle and it is some form of magnesia, but can't remember what it is called. The pharmacist said it would 'cure' my husband (who be taking codine) up quickly and it did.

You should also find out why you are have this problem.

My first reaction is Bananas but you necessitate more.
If this is a typical recurring piece I would say to start at the chiropractor and after hit a book on muscles (or someone like a work therapist who uses it) call The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies.
Short term your mother may be right - in that is even a much older (deceased) doctor (name escapes me) who used to use marine from both ends.
I also just remembered nearly dishes that don't have the soap rinsed rotten well giving some ancestors the runs.
