Should a pat practitioner be knowledgeable of diagnosis or not?
Answer:
no they shouldnt..they are there to complement conventional drug..they need to wprk mitt in paw with gp's etc and follow any proposal given and refer people as needed
No not atall they may sugest you step to the doctor..thats it.
That depends on what sort of formal educational point they hold. If they're only a masseuse, after NO.
Not at all but they can suggest their view and advise you to discuss it next to your GP to get referred..I ws advise by my physiotherepist to speak with my GP roughly a specific condition and I have the condition she told me in the order of and it has sorted out 25 years of worries and problems
No, they haven't the depth of training to diagnose.
They should refer, though.
No.
No bit of our training is how and when to refer how to do it with out diagnosing anything. Even if I see client and I know what is wrong I with the sole purpose suggest they go see their Dr. because they symptoms they explained to me nouns like they could be a medical problem. Any Massage analyst worth their weight will not diagnosis, our license can be artificial
I am a qualified massage practitioner...I may or may not be fit of diagnosis..however.. I am not trained to, insured to or allowed to diagnose. Only a Doctor can diagnose.
Big difference.
Capable, yes, allowed to, no.
Not necessarily. Some masseurs have done an evening course at their local college. Others enjoy a degree style schooling behind them.
I guess it is reasonable for a mould therapist to make clear to a client that they suspect a certain problem but a formal diagnosis should be made by an appropriately qualified medical practitioner.
One of the answers used the phrase 'merely a masseuse'. How patronising. I was a surgeon for 27 years and, believe me, everyone who care for the patient is critical and should feel proud of their contribution.
This isn't really relevant, I suppose, but I own retired from surgery because of a problem with my hand and have retrained surrounded by Shiatsu and Aromatherapy. Even so, I still wouldn't diagnose because I cannot call for the called for tests - xrays, bloods, anything - and you would be surprised how diseases can mimic or hide one another.
no they should not - that would be beyond their compass of practice.
