Is it okay to drink alcohol on bipolar meds?

I take Seroquel for my bipolar disorder. My doctor warn me not to drink alcohol on Seroquel, but I was wondering if anyone else have and did it really cause any problems? I merely want like a chalice or two of wine

Answer:
Absolutely not...Do not drink alcohol with your meds...Contact your Doctor and hold them give you the restrictions roll again...
Probably not ok to drink while on the meds. Double check with your doctor again, and explain the situation, he might know how to help you out.
NO. Do not consume ANY alcohol while on these meds. They take home any bipolar problems you have come out... and intensify them. Believe me... its a situation you do NOT want to go and get yourself into.
NO NO NO...do not drink while taking meds for Bipolar disorder. If you are really determined to drink, then don't purloin the Seroquel the night you drink. A cup or two AT THE MOST won't hurt you as long as you are not doing it every night.

Sorry if I'm sounding similar to your mom or doctor. I have Bipolar 1 Disorder and enjoy had some pretty horrible experience because I be stupid enough to drink.
I am also on seroquel. I reason the drinking will mostly affect how sleepy and and intoxicated you get, I don't presume it will make you freak out. Medication is pretty rock-hard on your liver and adding the alcohol won't facilitate. Although I am no doctor I wouldn't think a couple of specs of wine would do you in.
i seriosly doubt a bipolar character needs alcohal.
so my answears no.
What does this own to do with alternative prescription?
Seroquel is an antipsychotic. It works by altering the balance of positive chemicals that occur smoothly in the brain, which are responsible for thinking and behavior.
Do not drink alcohol or use medicine that may cause drowsiness (eg, sleep aids, muscle relaxers) while you are using Seroquel.
i'm not going to speak it's ok to drink on meds cause if you progress have a beer and after coincidentally have a heart attack, everyone will be sure it be my fault.

Bi polar meds are tricky - make happen they level us out so muchsometimes it's close to being a short time ago flat and dull. i hate that portion of it. I take lamictal which is an anti convulstion med - even though I've never have a convulsion - and it works, sometimes too good - and I a short time ago feel so flat feint, i want to break out and do something - usually something simple like own a glass of wine or beer.and i've done so, but i con't drink adjectives the time and i make sure to to nick milk thistle for my liver and plenty of water for the toxins surrounded by the other parts of my body too.

I really don't agree with the answerer who suggested you be in motion off your meds if you are gloing to drink, but i don't agree beside an earlier answer that suggested you don't nick your meds that night. that will completely rumple your levels and that will screw you up worse than anything.

I don't know the point of your symptoms nor do i know how m uch med is approriate for you - this is all i can vote:

If you think you hav e any disposition toward alcohol or drug use that is within excess of "most" of the people you know, next don't drink - it has probably be an frail faithful "cure and form of self medicationt" for your bi polar sympotoms surrounded by the past.

will become a form of self medicating to do something just about that flatline feeling. Only you know the answer to that - i suggest you try and find a bipolar club on row for awhile to check out what they think, but be judicious about "joining" any bi polar group or club. they usually brand me feel even crazier than I am incentive so many bi polar and schitzosophrenics (did i spell that right??) come across to be able solely to dwell on their illness. I presume it's better to ignore it as much as I can and currency in on the creativity it provides when i'm surrounded by a manic phase. good luck

My friends 17 year weak grandson was on bipolar medication. He was out visit and during the evening when everyone went to sleep him and his brother begin to drink. Her grandson fell asleep on the couch and found him dead the subsequent morning.

Is that enough to convince you not to drink?
Do Not Drink Alcohol With Any Medications! remember the proverb -- Be Responsible!! Alcohol and medications do not mix especially for what you are taking it for. Alcohol also can make over your brain chemistry/imbalance. Please do not drink if not for yourself for the life span of someone else.
Ok, your Dr said no, now you are lately looking for someone to say it is alright. It seem that you want your fear alleviated that you won't keel over if you do drink.

If you want to drink more that pocket your meds, then I guess that will determine which one you are prepared to sacrifice.
The bottom string is which is more important. Having those couple of wines or committing to managinhg your strength issues. Only you can decide. You can't put it on us to pinch the responsibility or make the edict for you.
