These are terms for adjectives around body mutiliation, such as piercing, really big earring holes and bones through the nose. It's a bit grotesque how things from primative cultures are filtering subsidise through our own. Probably we're not as advanced as we like to dream up, and technology doesn't change the primative urge for intimidation, pain and rite of pathway rituals. I just saw a big TV special going on for men who voluntarily castrate themselves. Sounds really strange but some of them did it to reduce their addiction to pornography and state of mind of pedofilia (they should get a pendant for that!), so to each his own I guess.
