I was cruelly deprived of sleep over long period during my childhood and late teens, so I've have insomnia off an on throughout my enthusiasm and had to swot a lot roughly this.

Even if you have insomnia and surface aweful, exercise is the single best thing. Do it precipitate in the afternoon, or it'll have your metabolism too giant when you go to bed. Both Cardio and Weight training give a hand.

the best is meditation: use soft relaxing music, you may have need of visual support at first: try: sitting look at the light from a candle or look within a mirror while mediating it really really works and it will be the best sleep.
Get the most comfortable bed you can find. I love a spike bed on top of a honourable mattress and lots of lovely pillows. Then I can sink into the bed and feel so well-mannered I don't want to move. Then I fall asleep.

Don't forget to "find ready" for bed. The ritual of changing into hours of darkness clothes, washing, brushing teeth, etc. is required preparation for a good night's sleep. It may give the impression of being silly, but try it for a week and see what happens.
