i want to give my children vitamin c nutrition supplements. they are some chewable tablets that i bought. the press is how much mg. can they have? respectively tablet is 500mg.'s. is that to much? my sons are 3 and 6.
Answer:
You are to be commended on being a wonderful, civilized and loving mother. Your sons are lucky!
Dear, according to Dr. Weil, MD, who is a top nutritionist and alternative medicine practitioner, you should simply supplement your children's vitamin C to 200 mg. You could cut the tablets in partly with a pill splitter. That would be close to the 200 mg.
Dr. Weil advise that we ALL get our vitamin C essentially from pure food sources. Lots of good fruit (4-5 pieces a day), leafy green vegetables and tomatoes are wonderful sources. 2 oranges, 1 apple, a cup of green, leafy vegetables and some unprocessed fruit juice would hand over your two sons each plenty of the vitamin C they would entail...around 200 mg.
Keep up the great work, Mom. Your sons will be in top-notch form their whole lives beside the great start you are giving them!
If they get diarrhea it is too much.
The supplement company should provide information concerning what ages of children should run the product.
The exact RDA of vitamin C for children, I do not know. I bet if you take a look on the sticky label of a children's multivitamin, it will tell you how various milligrams it contains and what percentage that dose constitutes the recommended daily allowance for children. I do know for a reality though, that our bodies are smarter than we are. When it comes to vitamin C, if you take substantial quantities of C, your body will use what it requirements and will discard the rest in your urine in need being toxic. Other vitamins you cannot do this next to.....they can be toxic in colossal doses.
The chewable vitamin C I purchase for my four year old grandson are 100mgs and one tablet is recommended. In my belief, these are ideal for small children.
Hope this is valuable and feel free to contact me beside questions.
Ok,
When it comes to vitamin C, the body can one and only handle 500 mg. every 6 hours. Anything over that & they're only just pee-ing out the excess. The way to bypass this is to find timed release, or...give them 1 every 6 hours.
Try to bestow with food, so it can be rapt.
That's a little elevated for young kids, but it shouldn't hurt. when you're system get saturated near enough vit.c, it will do away with the rest. One way to know if you are getting too much is when you start have mild diarrhea. If you want to get them fortified near vit.c,for cold and flue season, try 100 milligrams a day. that should be plenty for their little systems to handle .and hang on to an eye on their stool for mild diarrhea. Leave the larger amount to grown ups.
lemon and orange liquid is sufficient.
since body throws out excess vit.C, nothing to verbs. but giving it through oranges, lemon juice, citrus fruits is a better model, as immune system also gets strengthened. Spring is a detox season and cough, cold, restlessness are companions for children. You can give some honey beside these juices so that vit. E also boosts imperviousness.
Upto 3000 mg per day for elder causes no problems. but when it comes to children it is not lone weight that matter. start and grdually increase. mild diarrhea will clean colon too.
