Wat will start if we sleep beside contact lenses on?
will it affect d eye in any opening?
Answer:
The most serious safety concern near any contact lens is related to overnight use. Extended-wear (overnight) contact lenses--rigid or soft--increase the risk of corneal ulcers, infection-caused eruptions on the cornea that can head to blindness. Symptoms include vision change, eye redness, eye discomfort or aching, and excessive tearing.
The risk of corneal ulcer for people who save extended-wear lenses in overnight is 10 to 15 times greater than for those who use daily-wear lenses solitary while awake, says James Saviola, O.D., chief of the vitreoretinal and extraocular devices branch at FDA's Center for Devices and Radiological Health.
When the eyes are undo, he explains, tears carry average oxygen to the cornea to keep it tough. But during sleep, the eye produces fewer tears, cause the cornea to swell. Under the binding down of a rigid contact lens during sleep, the flow of tears and oxygen to the cornea is further reduced. This lack of oxygen leaves the eye adjectives to infection.
Extended-wear rigid lenses also can cause impromptu, sometimes undesirable, reshaping of the cornea.
Soft extended-wear lenses also bind down on the closed eye, but they are porous and allow some tears through during sleep. Because they have so little form, their binding have little effect on the shape of the eye.
i know that they stick to ur eyes with mucous or something, pretty sensitive i think...
You're not supposed to, its unpromising for your eyes, it can cause an eye infection through time. I've also hear that it can slip behind your eyeball when you're sleeping.. With that said, I wear contact lenses and I am taking risks cos I frequently sleep next to them in cos I'm too slothful to take them out.. Stupid me!
IT can break into your eyes
it may destruction your eyes by breaking inside
Went to an eye clinic and saw the posters of so many types of disorders associated to misuse of contacts, which may lead to enduring impairment of sight and blindness. Give your eyes the honest night rest it deserves by taking out the contacts.
hi. no please! unless u are wearing special soft lenses. but instinctive areation of the corneal area is desirable.sometimes not easy lenses may cause corneal ulcerations which may organize to extreme complication of bad infections and eventually corneal opacities , even blindness within rare cases. dont do it please! Dr Damle
Nothing will start.
Generally a person should not use more than 18hrs a hours of daylight. In case it is vital while travelling it it better to remove and wash the eyes and fix impossible to tell apart again. If you continue the lesses you may see blart. Take my above suggestion.
Over long period od time you risk corneal ulcers & neovascularisation (you are depriving your cornea of oxygen when sleeping next to them, so blood vessels start to grow into your cornea to provide O2 - if you stop the blood will retract but the vessel wont and it is irreversable!)
it will hurt a lot!!
don't do it unless your contacts are expected to
it could be dangerous
Well if you forget to pinch them out for one night its will not spoil yours eyes much .. may you can have one of them skewed .. but do not permit this become a habit. you can developed some infection and spoil your eyes.. Better follow the hygiene rules..
Hi Mallika, no, you can't sleep with contact lenses if you use a disposable lenses, this may predispose to Severe Keratitis.
Ophthalmology recommend silicone hydrogel for those who choose to wear contact lenses during sleep to downsize their risk of severe keratitis. The use of silicone hydrogel allows for extended wear of lenses in sector due to its greater capacity to verbs oxygen to the cornea. This effect should also reduce the unpredictability of infection and other clinical problems associated with extended-wear lenses.
