Everyone dreams, some people only just don't remember their dreams when they wake up. If you remember a dream, it system that you were woken up surrounded by the middle of it. You will probably not feel as rested, because you be woken up in the middle of a sleep cycle. Sleep cycles typically finishing 90 minutes, to get the best sleep, plan to be asleep for a multiple of 90 minutes.

i surmise it depends on the dream, if it is nice you will wake up relaxed but what if you have a nightmare and get up up with headache

Having tons dreams can be a sign and symptom of blood deficiency. (There are other possibilities also...)
My cross-examine would be what time do you go to sleep?
How tons hours do you usually sleep?
Are you going through any sort of stress?
Have you been incomplete energy? Get glibly tired? Low stamina?
If you are blood deficient (i own no idea w/o diagnosing you within person) a dietary way of treating it would be adding together raspberries and red beets to your diet. Have 1/2 a bag of raspberries within the morning before breakfast and formerly dinner. (Frozen raspberries are a lot cheaper)
Add some steamed red beets to your dinner. (NOTE: red beets will cause your urine red, so don't mistaken it for blood.)
What the raspberries and red beets do is allow your liver to increase it's capacity to hold blood, thus over time increasing the amount of blood surrounded by your body.
Do this for a month and see how you feel. You should enjoy more energy and you should stop dreaming. (Assuming you're sleeping at a apt time and not under a great deal of stress)
Essential Oils can be used to help you sleep better. Rub a drop of lavendar grease about 2 thumb widths away from the center of your wrist surrounded by between the two ligaments OR you can rub it on the center of your chest at the level of the nipples. (Warning: This is singular a temporary solution. This is something you DO NOT want to do over a long length of time [mth or longer] because eventually it will become a stimulant.)
Go to sleep no later than 10pm.
In the extremity there are oodles different possibilities on why you're dreaming. I would see an acupuncturist.

There is no such thing as a 'dreamless' dark. One of the stages of sleep is known as REM sleep. This is where on earth the world of dreams begins. It is a compulsory stage that the brain goes through, contained by order to rejuvenate itself.
It so happen that one tends not to remember dreams as vividly during some night than in others.
