What's the complete definition of SHEN surrounded by traditional chinese prescription?

I don't know exactly the definition, I think it's resembling some kind of combination of body and mind state

Answer:    Shen is used to describe a couple of different things in Chinese Medicine. In the larger sense, Shen, the Mind/Spirit refers to one of the "Three Treasures" in Chinese Medicine. These three treasures are the Jing (Essence), the Qi, and the Shen (Mind/Spirit). Qi provides the dynamic aspects of existence. Essence differentiates the organic from inorganic. Shen surrounded by the human being raise our awareness above that of simpler animals. When the Qi and/or the Jing are weak, consequently the Shen/Spirit will reflect this.

In the more confined definition, the Shen refers to one of five aspects of the greater overall definition of Shen (Spirit/Mind). This smaller aspect correlates to the conscious wake mind. In Chinese Medicine, the conscious mind/Shen is said to reside in the Heart. This "smaller" Shen act to connect us with the outward social environment. When the Heart is nuts the Shen will become disrupted.
