What do you guys know roughly Stevia?
Is it better than regular sugar or Splenda?
Looking for something more natural for use contained by my cooking for my children. I have a bit one who is HYPER and I like to cut rear on the preservatives and additives.
Answer: It's a very sweet herb. It is instinctive, which is MUCH safer than Splenda (which has artificial sweeteners within it) and better for you than regular sugar.
It tastes description of like Equal (in my opinion), so some nation love the taste and some ancestors hate it. Because of that, I would recommend starting next to a small quantity to form sure your little one likes/tolerates the taste ;-)
Also, it should be noted that Stevia tend to be stronger tasting than regular sugar, so you should trade name sure you pour it out carefully and slowly the first few times and appetite as you mix the Stevia in (to put together sure it doesn't get too sweet). I've talk to people that took a couple big spoonfuls of Stevia within their coffee the first time and had to pour it down the drain because that sweetened it method more than they were expecting.
Overall, Stevia and Xylitol (another colloquial sweetener) are both great alternatives to all the wicker sugar and all the artificial stuff that's out in attendance, but some kids might still get hyper from it if they hold the mental suggestion that it's sugar... that's the major downside of any sweets.
I begin using stevia because i wanted to exterminate or cut back on sugar surrounded by my diet. I purchased a box and began using it, but feel it had such a strong weakness, I didn't care for it at adjectives. I tried to cut back on the amount I used, and still get this stong flavor cut through just almost any food, baked or otherwise. As for a sweetener for coffee or tea, it ruined the flavor completely. It may be all surrounded by what you are used to, get some sample from a health food store and try it for yourself. http://www.stevia.net/
The essence of stevia takes some getting used to.
Another substitute is pure raw maple syrup...adjectives natural, no artifical cast-offs, no mapley taste, and you solely need small amounts.
Although it is a sweetener it is truly an herbal supplement. It can have unwanted side effects, I don't know that it would be secure for children
