ADULT STEM CELL RESEARCH Do you realize the exigency ?
STEM CELL research will not only treat it will CURE many things and stop suffering all over the world.
Do you realize we own not cured any major illness sense 1955 and i think that our technology is slightly better consequently it was back then.
So i ask you where on earth are the CURES and why is there not more invested in this research? (Ask yourself and then do something.)
Answers: I, intuitively, have actually HAD an adult stem cell treatment, that be most certainly not available in 1955. It would be nice to have a hint for that statement, but even if we havent cured new diseases, we HAVE made HUGE steps in many other areas.
The treatment I have is a hematopoetic stem cell transplant. I have had a type of leukemia twice. With a rare tissue type, I hold no matching donors in the marrow registry. My transplant instead of using marrow or peripheral blood hematopoetic stem cell used the same type of cell from cord blood... two different cord blood units, to be exact, so I actually hold two different donors. They could do a regular bone marrow transplant in 1955, (the first succesful one was close to 40 years after the discovery that bone marrow are stem cells), however they could not use peripheral blood stem cell or cord blood at that time. And on top of all that, both donors were a mismatch to my tissue type. I would hold died had my transplant been attempted in 1955, but today (well, 2007 to be accurate) they can do that and I am still here to have a word about it. However, even the simple, uncomplicated bone marrow transplant still coudnt be done reliably in 1955.
And as far as money being surrounded by the treatment not the cure. soooooo wrong. Do you realize that the transplant cost more than double all of my previous cancer treatment for the first 3 years of the diagnosis. And then, my insurance is medicare and medicaid. So the hospitals and docs actually get paid less than a fourth of what my transplant actually cost, and it cost roughly 20,000 times as much as the cost of my transplant to achieve it through testing to a point that it was available to me.
People ARE investing in stem cell research. I denote, I know the conservatives of my country have slowed down embryonic stem cell research, but adult stem cell research is growing by leaps and bounds. I lot of the research currently is human being fed into hematopoetic stem cell transplants, but that is primarily because that transplant is the treatment in close to 80% of the diseases that can currently be treated with adult stem cells from leukemias, lymphomas, myleomas to several non cancerous blood diseases. It can be used to treat a slew of auto immune diseases and can be used contained by conjunction with other organ transplants to give patients a chance to come rotten their immunosuppression, its even a possible future treatment to aids (the recent news reports about the man human being cured of hiv after a bone marrow transplant that was actually done with at a tangent blood stem cells, not marrow, is True).
I am sorry that there isnt a whole lot of stuff going on within the areas that you need, but everything cant be done at once, it just literally cant all be done at once. The human body is extremely complicated and we swot more every single day that makes us realize its even more complicated than we previously thought. I dont know the extenet of your injuries, but I assume it involves the spinal cord, and thereby the brain, the two most complicated organs in our body.
I devise if you really dont understand why there isnt cures for everything and honestly think its give or take a few money... that is your choice. But I encourage you to challenge yourself to find out. Go to a library, do some of your own medical research. Actually read in the region of whats going on instead of coming on here babbling all this ranting crap in an attempt to find someone to blame. If you want to speak out for research, you hold got to find a different way to do it than blame greedy docs who only want money. The lone people that are going to listen to you are other conspiracy theorists while the people that NEED to be listening to you are gonna turn a deaf ear.

You are so right when you say THERE IS NO MONEY IN THE CURE, ONLY IN THE TREATMENT. Our health system requests to keep us medicated through out our lives. There is way to much money involved.
