Sarah honey I can advise you of an alternative?
I have a similar problem, and I also did want to take any pills because I didnt want to get hooked on it or addicted to it.
Try some of the following, in accumulation to or alternative to herbal pills (if you want):
- Drink a warm glass of milk before you want to sleep.
- Try some "white noise" (you can buy it) or turn on a devotee to get some sound going in your room.
- Have a tub with lavender oil before you want to sleep.
- Do some breathing exercises formerly you sleep to calm your body down.
- Think of a nice movie you watched, your favourite one probably. Close your eyes, try and "play" the movie in your mind while you are trying to sleep. So instead of lying in bed thinking "i need to sleep now", of late close your eyes and if you have a movie that you know really well, "picture" it from beginning to cessation (so "play the movie in your mind"). - You will never get to the end because you will drip asleep!
- If you dont know a movie so well that you can just "play it in your mind short watching it", try this: Pretend you are going to go rock climbing. There is a really big mountain ahead of you. You arent the only one trying to climb, all your enemy and friends etc are also going to climb it. Imagine your family and their families are all standing at the rear you guys, waiting for you guys to start climbing. Whoever reaches the top gets the prize (whatever you want the prize to be). You need to smash your enemies. Then you hear "ready, set, go". You start climbing, but you need to steal your time because you cannot use up all your energy. This climb in going to clutch 3 days. There will be stopping points you can stop at. You have already packed food in your backpack. Pretending sometimes you hurt yourself, and you look down, see your enemy or friends going past you etc. - You will never reach the top coz you will fall asleep ;) Source(s): I have a similar problem - the strategies I have suggested really work a charm. Try it honestly - you wont regret it!
I wouldn't drink any sleepy tea before going to bed..........you'll be up at night going to the restroom then. Like the other entity said, Melatonin is the best way to go. You can go to http://www.puritan.com/
and buy it contained by 5ml doses. It's cheap too! Source(s): I've bought it from here before.
One of the best intuitive herbs you can use to get to sleep is Valerian root. I am Native American and use this to treat myself as well as other folks. You can use Valerian Root in tincture form or make a strong tea. I take a dropperfull of tincture on the night I cannot sleep. You can purchase valerian Root on our website http://www.redfoxtradingpost.com or at your local food co-op. Source(s): http://www.redfoxtradingpost.com

Herbal remedies are another excellent alternative to sleeping pills and also to melatonin. Consumed surrounded by the form of herbal teas and supplements, or even as aromatherapy, herbs like valerian root and chamomile have be lauded as effective sleep-enhancers for centuries. Unlike melatonin or sleeping pills, chamomile does not have to be consumed over a period of time formerly it becomes effective. Chamomile tea can be used on an as-needed basis and several people have used its sleep-enhancing qualities to successfully combat bouts of insomnia.
Slightly stronger than chamomile and usually taken within pill form, valerian root is another well-known herbal sedative recognized for its proficiency to overcome insomnia and promote quality sleep. Valerian's sleep-inducing properties are so effective that it is actually medically accredited as the herbal equivalent of ValiumTM. Indeed, it is said that the name ValiumTM was derived from Valerian, although ValiumTM itself is not otherwise connected with valerian surrounded by any way.
Good luck, Vincent
