Antidepressants, should I try again?

I used to take Effexor 150.time released. i took it for 5 or so years. It really helped but I hated the brain zaps if I missed and I gain weight. I weaned my self off about a year ago, but am wondering if I should grasp back on it. I started trying Sam-e about two weeks ago, and maybe I am not giving it ample time to work. I am thinking about going back to the Dr. and getting the Effexor back. Is at hand anything natural that would be helpful? Should I give the Sam-E a bit more time?
Answers:    I own not found a natural alternative that has been constructive as a replacement for prescription antidepressants. You can give the Sam-E all the time in the world, but it basically may not be strong enough to effectively combat your problem.

While I understand your concerns about the "brain zaps" and freight gain, it's important to consider if those things are worse than the depression you're suffering without being on the medication. Also, you can avoid the brain zaps by self dutiful about your dosing, and watching what you eat will control your weight. Effexor doesn't affect your metabolism (like some psych meds do), it does effect your desire to guzzle. You need to be careful what you put in your mouth.

Hope this help. Good luck to you. Source(s): I'm an RN and I struggle with depression.

Alternative therapy and cancer?

Depening on youre age of when you were on it will affect it... you should ask your doctor about it and what type you should be on and WHY THAT TYPE! they other leave that part out ... why they want you to use that brand (some get rewarded off to use some) and ask them what would the second brand they would see if this one doesnt work (in case you dont go put a bet on to that doctor) and if you are happy with what they said take it... but for go to another doctor and tell them what the other had said...

you can carry antidepressant boosters aswell... pills to help you get what you need out of the pills you are already taking but they aren't for adjectives.

What help soothe a sore throat excluding..

It takes a month or two before you know if a medication will work for you. If it doesn't work, I would try Effexor again since it really helped. It took me several years to find the right combination of medication and it's been 6 years since I've had any symptoms of my illness.

Reiki and Kundalini interrogate?

I don't know much more or less Sam-e, but I can tell you that I had a lot of luck beside dietary changes. I went gluten free for other reasons and my depression go away. I've also heard that st. john's wort really works. It works on your brain in a similar way to maoi's. Before I did the dietary change, citalopram really worked for me, although it did have some side effects like weight gain and adjectives.
