Any herbal remedies for anxiety?

I just spent 4 hours in the e-r because I thought I was have a heart attack. Blood work, ekg, pulse-ox all came back regular. Doc said most likely anxiety attack (palpitations, chest discomfort, hard-pounding--SCARY!). It was getting progressively worse for the past 5 days.

He prescribed atavan for me, but I'm really discomfited taking these kinds of meds, and with my husband being within a combat zone, I'm sure it will happen again. Any alternatives to meds?

Thank you!
Answers:    For centuries, tea has been used to treat and cure a choice of medical mishaps, including anxious behavior and stress. A variety of choices containing components that aid in the reduction of rigidity and calm the mind, body, and soul include chamomile, cloves, lavender, orange blossoms, and thyme.

Also aromatherapy works great for this too use peppermint or lavender, or even chamomile for this purpose.

Should i be worried of this?

With your husband in the combat zone, you might find the call for to talk to others about your situation. Perhaps you can find a counselor or a support group through the Veterans Administration or other government consortium. Don't keep you feelings bottled up to yourself. Sharing them with others can be hugely valuable.

There are herbs can can help you relax and minister to you to sleep, eg, valerian root, kava kava, chamomile, hops, passion flower, skullcap. Probably, valerian root and kava kava are the best. You have to keep contained by mind that it can take a few weeks for some herbs (including valerian) to build up in your system earlier they work. You can also try 5-HTP, trytophan, or GABA.

A warm bath is a good mode to relax. You can add lavendar oil or any other oils that you find soothing.

What be very helpful to me, especially when I felt anxious or my mind be racing, was to listen to relaxation CDs, especially those that contain someone speaking with relaxing music surrounded by the background. Many of these CDs are available on eBay for very low prices.

A helpful technique is to relax your body one piece at a time. So you could relax your feet, your lower legs, upper legs, moving up from your lower belly up to your chest, etc., until your whole body is relaxed.

Of course, guided relaxation methods can help, Imagine yourself surrounded by the country, the beach, or whatever is most soothing to you.

My best wishes to you and your husband.
