Are herbal supplements not detrimental next to prescription meds?
I'm taking some prescription medication and wondered if I can take something called Acai Berry with a Colon Cleanse? The Acai is a dietary supplement. My doctor is not contained by but I wondered if someone would have an idea about this mixture? I run very low doses of Levothyroxine, Toprol, Celexa and Xanax.
Thanks for any help.
Answers: The Acai berry should not be any problem for you. However, the Colon Cleanse might.
Does the Colon Cleanse product contain large amounts of fiber and/or bentonite clay? If so, don't lug it at the same time you take your other meds, as it may sequester the meds in your intestinal tract and prevent their absorbtion. Give yourself at least possible two hours between the doses of colon cleanse and meds, just to be sure. Source(s): LMP and student of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine)
Can you help yourself to Soma and..
It depends. I know that if one is taking St. John's Wort they do NOT compliment with their prescribed already psychological drugs. There are others but general 95% of them are okay next to prescribed meds./jerome
Typically there is no harm in combining Eastern and Western medicine as they work on 2 separate levels.
I would say go ahead, but you should probably ask your doctor newly to be 100% sure :-)
