Are there any bad side effects from taking melatonin?

I've be taking melatonin to help me sleep and I'm noticing my skin darken and things like scars improving. I'm thinking this might be a good thing to impart to my kids since they like to play outside a lot and my husband struggles beside skin cancer issues. I can't find any bad side effects from melatonin. Anyone know of any?

Answer:    While it helps restore the sleep cycle, I've occasionally have bad dreams while taking it. Other than that, I don't think there's any bleak side effects. Just don't take more than the recommended dosage.

However you may wanna check with a doc in the past giving it to your kids..
In most cases it is fine for adults. But children and even young adults should not take it. They own plenty. It can also cause depression sometimes to a degree. try here

righteous luck.
it is a hormone. and, some brands have many fillers that are not so fitting for the body. if it works for you fine. but, kids, ? ? i don't think a good thought from my prospective. do not self medicate, specially not your kids.
check with a doctor and the doctor's kids too.
