Are steroids for asthma similar to illegal steroids that some athletes use?
I hold asthma and have been taking steroids (Advair) for it for a year.
I be wondering...
Why are they called "steroids"?
Are they anything like steroids some athletes use? Like, are the side affects surrounded by personality similar? Because since I've been taking them I've be more interested in sports and I've been waaay more competitive, even though I be already competitive to begin with.
Answer: No, they are not. The benevolent of steroid that you are talking about that athletes foul language is Anabolic steroids. The steroids me and you use are like a antibiotic mixed with anti inflamatories beside other compounds that boost the immune system for the lungs. Anabolic steroids has far worse affects on many organs and is really unwholesome. And by the way, does Advair make your throat as sore as mine? I couldnt pinch it..
My friend who replied is misinformed..Anabolic steroids are just another medicine, and if used correctly and smartly they are undamaging.
Asthma inhalers can kill you if over used and abused, actually almost anything will.
Anabolic steroids enjoy gotten a very bad reputation as pro Bodybuilders and heaps athletes just want to win,and do not use them safely, hence adjectives of the problems.
The chemical in inhalers are not chemically the same as an anabolic steroid, though similar surrounded by structure..
I read somewhere else that the steroids for asthma are a completely different class of steroid from the anabolic steroids. I can't rememebr the name for the type though.
