Answer: Advil and other ibuprofen medicines won't heal sore throats, per se--what they will do is fall inflammation. This can sometimes cause a sore throat to stick around for longer, since inflammation is a way of getting more blood to an injured ot sick area--and thus more uplifting agents of the body.
If you do take ibuprofen or Advil or any other painkiller, never exceed the recommended dose on the bottle or given by your doctor. Ibuprofen can be highly tough on the liver and the lining of the stomach.
