Detoxing foot hip bath? I am not sure this is so definite?
My girlfriend borrowed this device from her friend. Her friend paid about $2000 for it. You fill it near warm salty tap hose, place your feet in it and turn it on. After 30 min the water is green on the bottom, next to brown and grey floating in it. It also smells bad. The book says that the wet turns color because all those toxins are sucked out of your feet into the water. I am skeptical. I enjoy done this before with tap marine using my own homemade machine and was able to duplicate the results lacking placing parts of my body in the water.
I examined the power supply. The circuit looks much like the electroplating device that a friend asked me to fix. I suspect that this machine is only perfoming electrolysis on the water.
I asked her to swab it out and try it again without her feet in it. The river changed almost exactly the same, but not quite as dark, and it lacks much of the grey.
I hold a salt water softener, and a reverse osmosis device. I used that water. Without placing my foot in it, it just bubbled and the water solitary became slighly cloudy.
We repeated the test with the reverse osmosis marine and placed my feet in it. The water turned for a time cloudy, with some grey but that was it.
It appears that the brown was simply dissolved iron oxide from the city sea pipes. The green is an oxide of copper from her pipes. The grey is dead skin and excess skin oil from our feet. I enjoy concluded that this device is performing little more than a gentle exfoliation. Beyond that the bubbles make your feet touch good. Anything beyond that is likley "snake oil". Little or no toxins are being removed.
I suspect it would be more powerful to drink a lot of clean water, near lemon juice. This will dissolve toxins. Then do a good workout to sweat, and urinate out all the toxins beside the water though your bodies own cleansing process.
What do you think? Have you tried anything simular.
Answers: You're basically right. The electrodes within the water corrode via electrolysis, putting enough oxidized iron into the water to turn it brown. Occasionally you'll find someone putting packet of minerals into the water for "better detoxification", but these minerals are only useful for shifting the color of the water to something more dramatic like blue or black.
Ask someone who believes in the detox foot tub what kind of "toxins" are being drawn out... Odds are, they won't have an answer. Also, ask them if they believe the detox foot tub to be the most natural and effective why of ridding our bodies of these toxins... Odds are, they will say yes. Then you can tolerate them in on your secret all-natural cleansing method using the most effective detoxification system certain to man: The liver.
The liver changes the chemical structure of foreign compounds so they can be filtered out of the blood by the kidneys, which then excrete them contained by the urine. Any overpriced, pseudoscientific, potentially unsafe machinery can't compare to what we already have.
Student is absolutely right... I'm only commenting because I accidentally give him a "thumbs down." Intended it as a "thumbs up!"
Sorry Student. And good on ya for helping to debunk these detox scams!
