Does oil of oregano really work for colds?
My friend who is crazed with alternative therapies say it does. Does it?
Answer: Not even a little bit.
But what does work is zinc. Repeated research published in the New England Journal of Medicine have proven that taking zinc cuts the length of time a person is sick near a cold in half. That is a similar treatment effect as an antibiotic used to treat an bacterial upper respiratory tract infection.
The best route to supplement zinc is to get zinc lozenges. Don't get the homeopathic ones as the possession "homeopathic" means that it contains no active ingredient whatsoever (if it looks and taste like candy, it's not real).
Real zinc lozenges are dirty gray in color and own a gritty texture when you suck on them (although they taste good). A few a day should do the trick..
If you can tolerate ingestion a raw onion, that is the cheapest method to go. Otherwise, yes, oil of oregano does work. You want 2-3 drops beneath the tongue often during the day until cold symptoms disappear. Oil of oregano is expensive if you bring back a good quality brand. Don't receive this product as a cheapy. YES.. Oil of Oregano definetly works for colds.. I take Oreganol which is probably the best Oil of Oregano out there.. Also probably the most expensive but it's DEFINETLY worth the money..
Two populace recommended this to me for my shingles pain and I believe it's helped me. I found it within a pill form so I don't have to deal near the liquid dose. Never tried it. When I get a cold, I devour a whole onion.
It's gross as heck(and no good since a hot date), but it does work..
