Giving blood, what to expect!?
I am finally giving blood after a long wait ! I can't wait. What can i expect and how can i get my body set to give blood. I will be doing it tomorrow. Any things i can do tomorrow to make it better for me.
Answers: Good for you!! Make sure you eat beforehand you give you blood, otherwise you may get light head or feel woozy. It's also important that you stay hydrated before giving blood. You'll move about in and sign up. Then you may wait if you don't have an appointment. Eventually you will jump to an area that's partitioned off where a worker from the Red Cross will ask you some question. Some of the questions are basic, like how are you outlook today, and others are personal... like "Have you ever had sex in exchange for money" and "Have you ever used IV drugs." They also ask you give or take a few traveling, tattoos, and piercings. This is all to assess your risk for blood borne illnesses that may have contaminated your blood. Answer all question truthfully. Then they will test your iron levels to make sure your not anemic (it's for a while finger stick). If your iron level isn't high enough, you may not be allowed to donate. they also purloin your temp and your BP.
Next, it's time for the actual draw. You'll lay in a chair and they will use a BP cuff as a tourniquet. They stick your arm and had you this bubble thing to squeeze every five seconds. You fill a couple tubes, and afterwards a bag which is a pint. Your hand will probably start to tingle a little, but that's ordinary. If at any time you feel woozy, dizzy or lightheaded, let the nurse know. When your done, you get a band-aid and capture to go have crackers/cookies and juice. Make sure you receive up SLOW! Your body has to adjust to the blood loss. Getting up to fast, may cause you to wobbly. I personally have never fainted, but my boyfriend did the first time he donated. Just budge slow, and let someone know if you don't feel right!
As a nice little tidbit of information. recent studies indicate that people who donate blood live longer than those who never donate. They guess it may have something to do with iron levels, so there's another well brought-up reason to donate! Source(s): nursing student, blood donor
Side affects to taking extacy alot.?
Drink plenty of water today and tomorrow to keep yourself hydrated. You will be removing fluid from the body, so it's best to budge in adequately hydrated.Don't skip meals - give somebody a lift your body in to the donation center primed and ready to go.
They will ask you a series of history question, check your vital signs, and run a simple blood test to see if you are healthy ample to spare the blood. If you are they will take your donation, give you juice and a snack afterwards to minister to compensate for the loss, and monitor you a little bit before they let you walk off. You made find you are little light headed, or perhaps a touch more tired than usual for a day or two - but it passes quickly.
Kudos to you for donating -- every donation can be spun out into several products that can serve three people (sometimes more).
No income due to Disability from Accident?
You can expect to read a bunch of stuff, answer questions, get your bp & temp taken, hold your finger pricked to check hemoglobin, and if you make it past that point (I rarely do-vegan), you'll own a large needle inserted into your artery at the inside of your elbow! No big deal- it takes smaller amount than a half-hour to fill up the bag & hardly hurts at adjectives. Then you get some free bevs/junk food & maybe a sticker. To prepare, make sure you munch through enough & drink plenty of water. Only give if you're sure that you're capably. I gave once during a period of time that I wasn't eating much & be exercising a lot (not sure how my hemoglobin was high enough) & I feel nauseated for 2 days afterward.
Is this a colloquial attitude?
Drink plenty of fluids prior. Don't go in hungry. Know the names of any medication you take. Don't try and rush through it. If you race to finish you risk lowering your blood pressure too quickly and when you try to take up, you'll feel faint or even pass out briefly. Take your time getting up and be sure you get the impression okay before you get on your feet. Then own orange juice or a coke (the sugar will help put on a pedestal your blood sugar) and stay well hydrated after. Thanks for donating!
