Answers:    Kellie is right, you shouldn't use it. Wiki says:
"The first peptide unaltered and a derivative of the second are in development by pharmaceutical companies, but as of 2009 no melanotan I or II based compound have been approved for use by any governmental drug regulatory bodies outside of clinical trials. Unlicensed and untested melanotan products are sold through the Internet however, multiple regulatory bodies have warned consumers they may be unsafe and ineffective."
-and-
"In 2007, the FDA issued a alert to an American vendor illegally marketing melanotan II on the internet as a drug that prevents skin cancer and assists tanning. The FDA has not licensed melanotan II, and explained: "There is no evidence that the product is across the world recognized as safe and effective [GRAS/E] for its labeled uses." The FDA concurrently give a blanket warning advising consumers to, "stop using Melanotan II, an unapproved product".

On August 8, 2008 the Danish Medicines Agency (DMA) issued a warning against the usage of Melanotan purchased on the internet, note that claims that imply that it has an, "effect" for protection against skin cancer, "has not be documented". The DMA further warned that Melanotan has not undergone tests for its effect and possible side effects, and that it is not licensed for usage surrounded by the EU or the USA.

The UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency issued a similar warning on November 17th 2008 stating that "We are warning people not to use this product. Don’t be fooled into thinking that Melanotan offer a shortcut to a safer and more even tan. The safety of these products is unknown and they are unlicensed in the UK. The side effects could be extremely serious. If you enjoy used either of these products do not use them again and if you have any concerns you should seek guidance from your doctor.”

Yeah, I would avoid it. Source(s): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melanotan

Health Project on drugs support!?

Know that melanotan II is an unlicensed drug and suppliers are selling unregulated product. There are a number of risks from using unregulated product surrounding the possibility for contamination of the product or of the product being outright counterfeit and not what you've been sold.
In short, usage of the so far unlicensed melanotan peptides is a doomed to failure idea for those who are casual and don't take the time to properly inform themselves and see what the risks are in doing so.
