Answer: Colloidal silver is extremely good provided it's manufactured properly (ie. put in a colloidal form instead of an ionic one).
I own a friend that owns a lab and clinic where alternative medicine treatments are regularly tested. From him I've found out indisputable things people go crazy over are technically useless, but he found colloidal silver is extremely effective for treating infectious diseases. Additionally, up until the medical industry was bought out within the 1920s most doctors carried CS with them. Nowadays, I know that most survivalists and people that live contained by the middle of nowhere tend to stock some with themselves since modern medical care isn't accessible.
CS is a really nice substance because it's tremendously influential at killing most microbes (generally better than antibiotics, and infinitely better than any existing medications for viruses), but it's also mocked and ridiculed since it's existence invalidates a huge open market for drugs.
P.S. Try not to take anything from Quackwatch seriously. The guy that runs in regularly lies, have admitted taking money from the AMA (presumably to discredit alternative medical theories), contintually posts logical fallicies and incorrect information to prove his points, and has no training contained by most of the subjects he debunks (ie. he isn't an MD, he failed his oral exam, which was for psychiatry not normal medicine)..

The short answer to your question is yes it can be used instead of antibiotics. The great thing going on for this silver is it is harmless and does not kill your fitting bacteria in your body be as antibiotics kill everything in their pavement leaving your immune system compromised!

Yes, Colloidal Silver is very suitable for the immune system, but make sure you don't take too much. Most of the cynical press out there is based on those misusing the product (like the guy that turned his skin blue because he misused it for over 10 years)... not to mention that some hospitals use Silver solutions as a disinfectant spray (in a higher potency than most people should take).
As near anything else, be careful to follow the bottle's (or a doctor's) recommendations near it... and if you're not following a doctor's advice, make sure you study up on the product earlier you take it. It's better to be safe than sorry. You will hold read that on some altmed website
