Insomnia question?
I own been having trouble sleeping --- staying asleep. I hold researched valerian and melatonin. Which would you recommend? I am 60 and take no prescriptions.
Answer: I dont know which one is better. But all these drugs are dependence forming. One becomes dependent on it to fall asleep, within the long run it has side effects like agitation and addiction.
please try to do meditation, breathing excercise
brisk walk, and take 1/2 cup of thaw out milk with honey before going to bed. Read some nice books or listen to moral music till you feel sleepy.
As you age, sleeping for 5-6 hrs are good ample. But it should be sound sleep.
savithri.
Is there any unsystematic you have sleep apnea? Do you ever wake up gasping for nouns?
If you don't get enough sea during the day, you'll wake up between 1-3 am and enjoy trouble falling back asleep during that time.
Putting lavender oil on the bottoms of your foot helps.
Music, like lullabies or slow classical, will minister to your heart rate slow down and help you sleep.
Cut out any caffeine after 1 pm.
Look into progressive muscle relaxation.
Since melatonin is a hormone, I'd be a little cautious of it. Try the other things first, and then try Valerian..
Melatonin is good, but the dose is to low. Real Melatonin can single be subscribed, over the counter the dose is much lower. A glass of milk before sleeping help, and a piece of cheese has also some ingredients to make you sleep better. I hold found melatonin to be very effective. I would not rob more than 5 mg and maybe start with 3 and see how you get the impression. You should always consult with your doctor first if this is appropriate for you since you do not mention any medical conditions. melatonin relaxes natrually and doesnt leave you sleepy in the morning..
Well neither is FDA evaluated but several people find that melatonin helps. If you do lift it, though, be sure it is the synthetic form and not the natural form since the natural carry the risk of viral transmission. we (my siblings and i) used melatonin alot when we were younger, and it seem to work alright. It is better for staying asleep then it is getting you to sleep..
I have be an insomniac for years until a started to practice Reiki which, done properly, relaxes you because it realigns your chakras and is a kind of meditation tool too. If you can procure the ingredients, try some of these home-remedies:

Make sure your bedroom is quiet and depressing. Soak a tablespoon of mint leaves in a cup of water for an hour, drink every hours of darkness.
