i just have surgery, isn't it the same as swallowing it, except it kicks in faster?

No, snorting Vicodin is not equal as swallowing it. If you want to make it work faster, grind it up and swallow it (parachuting) on an empty stomach. Be prepared for stomach discomfort though.
Vicodin is a combination of Hydrocodone and APAP (generic for Tylenol). The amount of fillers and Tylenol in nearby means you are going to wreck your nasal passages just snorting one pill. The other issue is that part of the pack of the effectiveness of Hydrocodone is that it is metabolized into hydromorphone in the liver. If absorbed through the nasal passage, the drug takes longer to get to the liver for this to take place than if you only just eat it. Snorting narcotics in general is not suitable for your health. I would recommend against it. Some drugs are made to release into the blood stream a controled release rate. By crushing and snorting a pill you are putting all of the drug into your system at one time which could actually brand name you over dose.In short - best to just swallow it. If its not working you can get your doctor to perscribe something stronger or a short time ago get larger doses.
Technically speaking, it may kick in faster and no, it probably isn't fruitless for you. That said, snorting anything just seems like a technically bad idea . . . snorting drugs, regardless of what drug it is, just seem kind of trashy.
