Is this really true?
Chromium picolinate?
A friend of mine take chromium picolinate and he swears it speeds up his metabolism - is this true.
Answer: It can help, but it doesn't help everyone alike way. It can cause an increased heart rate (tachycardia), which is not honest if you already have a heart condition. I'd suggest reading up on it before you start taking it regularly..
This sounds really dodgy to me. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromium_pi...
The research suggests that chromium picolinate is either useless or harmful as a dietary supplement, since we just need microscopic amounts which we get from a ordinary diet.
The safest way to speed up your metabolism is to exercise regularly, particularly cardiovascular such as walking, which costs nought.
Chromium itself is a potentially poisonous element and there is no explanation to overexpose oneself to it. I'd advise your friend to lay off it and turn jogging with you if he requests to lose weight..
Some people don't own enough chromium picolinate for their insulin to do its job effectively. They benefit greatly from supplementing it (mostly inhabitants who don't eat enough vegetables).
Everyone else get no benefit whatsoever. Vitamins can ONLY treat the condition of vitamin deficiency..
he most likely feel better because the chromium levels his blood sugar...prevents the spikes and lows...the amount available in supplements will not injure him as long as he follows package directions I dont know if its true but I know that things that increase metabolism rate also increases heart rate so be careful beside products like that.
