Saint johns wort for depression?

I hold a really mild depression and moderate anxiety and i was recommended saint johns wart or antidepressants. I hear so many mixed answers.

Answer:    St. John's Wort is relatively effective for depression, as are Choline, B-12 and running.

For anxiety I highly recommend Bach's Rescue Remedy. (Available at form food stores.).
I have severe depression, St John Wort did absolutely nought for me. Personally I think it's more a placebo than anything. I guess it's an individual thing, but even on 3x the RDA, I feel literally nothing.

Flouexetine helped a lil and trazodone help a tiny bit more. Best thing to do is don't become fixated on drugs being the answer, depression is a psychological disorder, its on your mind, and granted drugs can changeover the way your mind works, but at the end of the sunshine if you change the way your thinking, you verbs your depression.

Dont know the best analogy to draw, but I'l have a go.

If your vehicle gets a puncture, you can use some gum or something to stop the air leak, but after time, you need to stop and squidge the gum back on. If you newly go to a repair centre, and obtain the tyre sorted completely, your alot better off.

Ok, admittadly that was a worryingly fruitless metaphor, but my point is, if you start taking drugs, (be it herbal or real medicines) you become reliant, you start thinking that your problems will go if you appropriate your pills. They wont, I have had depression for years and the merely thing that has help me with any real nouns is talking. See a councellor, a psychiatrist, a friend, or even confide in a stranger, consent to your thoughts out, and let someone help you

Hope everything go well, email me if you feel you call for to talk about anything. All the best, Mike.
I've hear that St Johns Wart is good for depression. I was on antidepressants ages ago and I found they be more hassle than help. I'd try giving the St. Johns wart a go first n see how that go, also drink plenty of fluids. I found that drinking loads of robinsons squash I got quite cheery off all the sugar I be drinking, and I was so happy to surface happy for that short time that I started doing things and very amazingly slowly managed to get myself wager on on my feet. Everyone is different but I would definately recommend squash!! I tried Saint John's Wort for depression, but mine was more severe. If yours is in recent times mild, try exercising. If you get your heart rate up for 30 minutes you'll get those endorphins going. Regular exercise is proven to serve even with more severe depression. Also, cut down on the amount of sugar and white flour you eat. If you really resembling your sweets, try agave nectar, which you can probably find at a health food store. Good luck. Hope you feel better soon..
St. John's Wart and sometimes Vitamin D works too if you live within a cold climate. Vitamin B helps for anxiety. If you are depressed, also try acupuncture. It totally helped me. It help some people. You have to take heed if you need surgery, you have to stop taking it.

I use Sam-e. It works great within a very short time
