Which type of potassium is the best to take in supplement form?
For instance, when taking calcium, it's better to hold calcium citrate rather than calcium carbonate because the body can absorb calcium citrate much better. I've see potassium citrate, gluconate, and aspartate and I think there are several more types. Which is the best?
Answer: It doesn't situation, really. Potassium in supplement form can only be up to 99 mg because 100 mg or more requires a prescription. Now, that's not such a discouraging thing... except that the RDA (recommended daily minimum for chief health) is 3,500 mg. That means that any supplement of Potassium can only be up to in the order of 3% of the RDA. even if it's a horrible form that you can only absorb partly of it (which is grossly low and could basically never get that low), that's a minimal loss.
You're much better bad to get Potassium from your food... that's the way your body utilizes it the most resourcefully and it's the best way to get the most surrounded by one sitting. Good luck!
