Why does it seem to be similar to Melatonin reverses and keep me awake?

Taking 1mg of Melatonin make me have worse insomnia than not taking it before bedtime. Why would it reverse?

I don't drink coffee.
Answers:    Because you've get too much Serotonin in your body already.
Melatonin helps to support Serotonin production, so taking more is just going to add on to that Serotonin. The reason it normally makes general public sleep is because Serotonin helps to control the sleeping cycle... but what many people don't read in the order of is that it also helps to control the waking cycles.
Normally, your body gives a secure (although small) boost of Serotonin later at night when it's time to go to sleep, next gives a larger boost in the morning when it's time to wake up. So, if you lift too much Melatonin or get too much Serotonin, you're going to wake up... it's the way your body works.
I'd stay stale the Melatonin and consider consulting a sleep specialist if you are having sleeping problems because sleeping pills may not help (because a number of them boost Serotonin as well). Source(s): Personal experience and I'm a Product Specialist for a vitamin company
